After years of research, design, filming, animation and pure dedication the National Museum of African American Music has finally opened its doors! The team at Videobred and I were honored for the opportunity to create the 7 films that are featured in the thoughtfully designed galleries that make up the experience. As the director of these films, I worked with the writers, historians, image researchers and animators to use design, storytelling bring these films to life. Each gallery was as unique as the genre of music - screens that disperse up the wall like a cascade of notes for Jazz or stack on top of one another like a collection of records for Pop Music. From gospel to hip-hop, we used rich imagery, design and narration to tell the story. CNN did a feature on the museum that gives a lovely introduction to the experience.
