The last scenes in the film, We Rise took us to the first Women's march in 2017 showing thousands of people marching for women's equality among other political issues. In the film, there is such a great power to this scene because you have just gone on a journey through generations of women standing up, speaking out and demanding change by marching on the same streets. Even holding the same signs.
This year, I was in New York during the Women's march and decided to join. As I got off the subway, the NYC crowd control took me full circle when it brought me smack in front of a poster for our film at the New York Historical Society! I call that serendipity. It became clear how important this story is and how proud I was to be part of it. What a lovely place and way to continue to stand up for women and the future of our country.
